HGCAL Autoencoder

The high granularity calorimeter (HGCAL) is a planned update to the CMS detector’s endcap. Beginning in my sophomore year (2022), I have worked to develop the autoencoder for compressing the detector readout. The autoencoder will be implemented directly on an ASIC chip, so I have utilized a number of methods to optimize model performance while working within the boundaries of quantized parameters and fixed model architecture.
